TRUST GOD FIRST

ISAIAH 46:3–13; PSALM 68:19

“Daddy, don’t leave my hand!”

“I will not. I promise.”

The little boy was terrified of the water, but his father wanted him to learn to swim. He purposely took him away from the side of the pool into a depth that was over his head, where he was his only support.

It was not just a swimming lesson; it was a lesson in trust. He reassured his son all would be well. Eventually his son began to swim on his own. But he had to trust his father first.

Even to our old age, God, our Father, promises to keep supporting us (Isaiah 46:4).

The Lord has promised that He would never abandon us, even though we may not always feel His arms beneath us (Hebrews 13:5). As we find rest in His care and promises, He teaches us to believe in His faithfulness and raises us above our fears to find fresh serenity in Him.

🙏 May the Lord give you the faith to trust in His ever-abiding presence. Amen.
