JOHN 12:31–36
A signpost never travels the road it points to; its purpose is to direct travellers to their destination. Likewise, Christians are called to point people to Christ, not to themselves.
In John 12:31–36, Jesus speaks of His coming crucifixion, describing it as being “lifted up”. Through the cross, He would overcome the power of evil and draw people to Himself, making salvation available to all.
Our influence should make Christ more visible, not make ourselves more celebrated. Through our character, words, service and love, let people encounter Jesus. When Christ is lifted up in our lives, others can discover the way to Him.
