LUKE 6:37–38
I was in a hurry as I entered the post office but encountered a very long line. I was getting ready to wait for at least thirty minutes when an elderly stranger approached me, complaining about his car. I decided to help, quickly fixed the issue in ten minutes, and returned to the service counter, only to discover the long line had disappeared.
What happened to me that day makes me think of what Jesus said in Luke 6:38. When we give, it will be given to us.
God cut short my haste; my wait became shorter. He gave me a gift by letting me see the needs of others and by enabling me to donate my time. I want to keep that lesson in mind the next time I check my watch.
Sometimes our to-do list needs to wait.
