STAYING NEAR

DEUTERONOMY 6:1–9

If I am deliberate about it, I can memorise a few Bible verses during the mile-long walk home from dropping my cousin off at her school. Later in the day, I frequently find that the minutes I spend meditating on God’s Word provide me wisdom and consolation.

Moses instructed the Israelites to follow God’s commands and decrees, urging them to discuss them with their children and tie them to their wrists and foreheads. Honouring the Lord and His Word was important if they wanted to enjoy His blessings and flourish in the Promised Land.

What do you think about God’s words today? One suggestion is to jot down a passage from the Bible and read it aloud and flip it over in your head each time you wash your hands or sip on a drink. Or, as the final activity of the day, think about reading a brief Bible verse before turning in for the night. God’s Word can be held near to our hearts in a variety of ways!

🙏Lord God, thank You for giving us the Bible, which is a wellspring for life. Help your children to read and digest it today.
