PSALM 121
On of the most dangerous aspects of flying in an airplane is landing. As the aircraft approaches the ground, air traffic can become more congested, the weather on the ground may be much worse than 30,000 feet, and the runways may not be clear. Pilots rely on the air traffic controller to coordinate all the details so that every plane can arrive without incident. Without the air traffic controller, chaos would be certain.
So imagine the panic when the pilot of a plane full of passengers contacts the tower and gets no response. Eventually it turned out that the air traffic controller was there, but he was sleeping soundly, which put the pilot, passengers and the plane in serious danger. The good news is that the plane landed safely.
For us, the better news is that God, the ultimate traffic controller, neither slumbers nor sleep. From His heavenly vantage point, He knows everything that is going on in and around our lives. As the psalmist points out – He will not slumber (Psalm 121:3).
We can rely on the fact that God knows the dangers that threaten and will tirelessly guide the traffic in our lives for our good and His honour.

1. Guide me, O thou great Redeemer,
pilgrim though this barren land;
I am weak, but thou art mighty;
hold me with thy powerful hand;
Bread of heaven,
feed me now and evermore.
2. Open now the crystal fountain,
whence the healing stream doth flow;
let the fiery cloudy pillar
lead me all my journey through;
strong Deliverer,
be thou still my Strength and Shield.
3. When I tread the verge of Jordan,
bid my anxious fears subside;
death of death, and hell’s destruction,
land me safe on Canaan’s side;
songs of praises,
I will ever give to thee.
