EPHESIANS 2:11–22
James, an African refugee, is unsure of his birthplace and lost his mother during the civil war. Unable to prove his birthplace, he seeks arrest at a British police station, preferring jail over living on the streets without the rights and benefits of citizenship.
Paul’s letter to the Ephesians addressed the challenges of living without a country, highlighting the importance of finding hope in Christ and belonging to the kingdom of heaven.
Paul realised that as the past fades, short memories can lead us to forget that hope is the new norm and despair is the old reality.
May our God grant us the ability to live in safety, to recognise every day that our only real connection to His family is through faith in Jesus Christ, and to comprehend the rights and benefits when we make Him the centre of our lives.
🙏 Lord, please help us to remember others who are still homeless while we reflect on how hopeless we were before You found us.
