Selwyn Hughes was a good example of wholehearted devotion to God.
Selwyn lost his sons in a span of ten months. While John died due to alcoholism, David had a heart attack. David, a printer, dedicated his career to his father’s publications and became a friend (not just his son) after Selwyn lost his wife. Despite his personal struggles, Hughes continued to minister, challenging people to care for others even when their hearts were broken.
Caleb and Joshua were part of a twelve-man team exploring the Promised Land. However, ten team members believed they could not succeed, as they saw obstacles despite God’s promises, Caleb’s wholeheartedness, and his belief in their ability to do so.
Ten men caused people to lose heart and grumble against God, leading to forty years of wandering in the desert. Caleb, a servant with a different spirit, was promised a special inheritance by God. At 85, God honoured His promise when Caleb received the city of Hebron, thanks to his wholehearted followership.
🙏Lord Jesus, may we love you wholeheartedly and follow you every day.
