PSALM 73
Have you ever felt that life is partial? You are not alone. For those of us who are faithful in following the will and ways of God, it is easy to get disheartened when people who do not care about Him seem to do well in life. A businessman is fraudulent yet he wins a good contract, and the ones who live immoral lives are strong and healthy – while you or your loved ones struggle with medical challenges.
The writer of Psalm 73 felt life was not fair. But the stream of his thoughts turned when he recalled his time in God’s presence.
When we spend time with God and see things from His point of view, it changes our perspective completely. We may be envious of the wicked now, but we will not be at judgment time. They may be achieving a minor victory now, but that victory ultimately results in a larger defeat, rendering the victory empty or hollow.
Like the psalmist, let us praise God for His presence in this life and His promise of the life to come. He is all we need, even when life seems partial.
Spending time with God puts everything else in perspective.
* Our God and Father, we believe that all wrongs will one day be set right by You; all motives and all deeds will be fairly judged and understood. Help us to faithfully follow You in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
