PSALM 103:1-14; 1 JOHN 4:10
“What is love?” Children had some excellent ideas. Noel, a seven year old, said, “Love is when you tell a person you like his shirt and he wears it every day.” Agnes, who is eight, replied, “Since my grandmother got arthritis, she can no longer bend over and paint her toenails, so my grandfather does it all the time for her, even after his hands were arthritic. That is what love is.” Paul, also eight, concluded, “You definitely should not say ‘I love you’ unless you mean it. But if you truly believe it, you should express it frequently. People tend to forget.”
We all need to be reminded from time to time that God loves us. We focus on life’s challenges and wonder, “Where is the love?” However, if we take a moment to reflect on all that God has done for us, we will be reminded of how much we are loved by Him, who is love (1 John 4:8-10).
In love, God forgives our sins, satisfies us with good things, and administers righteousness and justice, according to Psalm 103. He is a merciful God who is slow to anger. He does not treat us as our sins deserve, and our sin has been removed from us as far as the east is from the west. He has also not abandoned us!
What exactly is love? God is love, and He is lavishing it on you and me. God’s love for us is measured by Christ’s death on the cross for us.
🙏🏼 Thank You Lord for Your love. Help us to always appreciate it.
