MATTHEW 1:18–25
In keeping with his dreams and goals for his son, Methodist pastor Gip Hardin named his son after the well-known preacher John Wesley. Sadly, though, John Wesley Hardin took a different route than his namesake, who was devoted to preaching. Hardin, who claimed to have murdered forty-two men, rose to prominence as one of the most infamous outlaws and gunfighters in the late 19th-century American West.
Names have a significant meaning in the Bible and many modern cultures. The name of Jesus attest to His mission to redeem people from sin. By His death and resurrection, He fulfilled His mission of salvation and lived up to His name.
The forgiveness, hope, healing and every other thing Jesus offers are available to everyone who believes in His matchless name.
