MATTHEW 5:8
The Gran Telescopio Canarias (GranTeCan or GTC) is a telescope located at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory on the island of La Palma, in the Canaries, Spain. It is the world’s largest single-aperture optical telescope. Inaugurated in July 2009 by King Carlos of Spain, it offers astronomers an unusually clear view of the heavens. Located at 7,870 feet, the telescope is above the cloud cover, where the prevailing winds are dry and turbulence-free.
Jesus chose a mountainside to teach about the attributes of a life yielded to God. There He taught that attitude, not altitude, was the key to having a clear view of the Father.
“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). This is not just for the few who try to achieve it, but for all who will humbly receive it – all who accept a change of heart by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
A mountaintop is a wonderful place to see the stars, but to clearly see God requires a change of heart. To get a clear view of God, we need to focus on Jesus Christ.
* Lord, our minds are always wandering. Help us to be focused on You and You alone, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
