JEREMIAH 23:20-24
A mother asked her son if he had brushed his teeth before going to school. She reminded him of the importance of truthfulness, but he half-jokingly suggested a security camera in the bathroom to ensure he had brushed his teeth and to prevent lying.
Although security cameras can remind us to follow rules, there are still ways to go unnoticed or avoid being seen. We can evade or trick them, but we are fooling ourselves if we believe we are outside the gaze of God.
God’s question, “Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him?” (Jeremiah 23:24) serves both as an encouragement and a warning.
The warning is that we cannot conceal ourselves from God, outrun Him, or deceive Him, as all our actions are visible to Him.
The encouragement is that our heavenly Father is always with us, even when we feel alone. We can choose obedience to His Word and receive comfort, knowing that He watches over us, regardless of our location.
🙏 Lord Jesus, thank You that there is nowhere Your people can go that is outside of Your loving gaze.
