PSALM 24:3-6
These days, it seems that everywhere you go, there seem to be signs asking people to wash their hands. With the constant threat of germs and viruses spreading disease among the general public, healthcare providers warn us that the single most important factor for germ transmission is unwashed hands. As a result, in addition to signs urging people to wash their hands frequently, public places often provide hand sanitizers to help keep germs and bacteria at bay.
David also emphasised the value of “clean hands,” but for a very different reason. He stated that having clean hands is one of the requirements for worshiping in God’s presence. In Psalm 24, “clean hands” is a metaphor for our spiritual state of being cleansed from sin, rather than a reference to personal hygiene. It speaks about living a life dedicated to doing what is right and good, allowing us to worship our Lord guilt-free.
As He lives out His life in us, He can assist us in doing the right thing so that our hands are clean and our hearts are ready to worship our wonderful God.
🙏🏼 Give us clean hands o Lord.
