LUKE 10:40-42.
Love is an intense feeling of affection with no limits or conditions for a person, place, action, thing, etc.
Discipline is a training of oneself or others to obey rules or a code of behaviour.
Many people thought that the outbreak of the corona virus pandemic would help Christians spend time to study the scripture and pray. But from our careful observation, is that really true? Texting, phone calls, social media, more television programmes to watch, work from home, money making from the comfort of our homes, etc., are now the new order of our days. In fact, we seem to have recreated more Marthas at the expense of Mary.
God lovingly calls us out of our hot kitchens to the cool oasis of His presence. He offers us the long overdue relaxation, He motions to a soft pillow beside Him. Our Good Shepherd knows we must be made to lie down in green pastures for soul restoration.
It is a fact; mankind cannot live by bread alone. We are not mere humans but spiritual beings as well; needing to feed on every word that proceeds from God’s mouth. Everyone must embrace the Mary factor that nourishes our deepest needs. There must be that love; that deep hunger for God’s word and the discipline to sit at the Master’s feet to study it.
The cares of this world will surely be taken care of by its Creator, while He invites us to drink deeply of His living water. Let us wisely invest in our Mary sides. Our Marthas will depend on Mary to scale through this turbulent world.
