LUKE 24:49–53
Before the Salvation Army became a global movement, William Booth discovered that compassion and zeal alone could not sustain lasting impact. Real transformation began when he and his workers depended deeply on the Holy Spirit for strength, courage and direction—learning that human effort without divine power soon runs dry.
In Luke 24:49–53, Jesus, just before His Ascension, instructed His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they were clothed with power from on high. After He ascended into heaven, they worshipped with joy, knowing the promised Holy Spirit would equip them for their global mission.
Today, we are reminded that Ascension Day is not just about Christ’s departure but about His promise of empowerment. We must not rush into God’s work in our strength but depend daily on the Holy Spirit for boldness, wisdom and fruitful service.
🙏 May the ascended Christ empower you and His Spirit lead you in all things.
