TWO WORLDS

COLOSSIANS 1:15-23

Humans live in a world that is both natural and supernatural – visible and invisible. The life of a whale serves as an example of this. A whale would spend some time at the surface relaxing, then breathing strongly several times and shooting up a magnificent spout before diving a mile below the surface to eat squid.

The whale must occasionally surface for oxygen or it would perish despite possessing a diverse ecosystem of marine plants and animals. Despite having little knowledge of the world above, it needs interaction with it in order to exist.

Like the whale, we must periodically rise for spiritual air to maintain our life. The natural and the
supernatural are not, however, clearly separated. Prayer, worship, and showing the sick, poor, and imprisoned God’s love are all supernatural and natural things that Christians do.

The world we can touch, smell, and see is where all of our actions take place. However, the all-powerful Creator and Sustainer of all things has made it possible for us to take in the spiritual air we so desperately need.

🙏🏞O God, Your throne is always accessible to Your children. Thank You that we can benefit from both worlds – the natural and supernatural.
