3 JOHN
A disappearing art in the modern era is what the apostle John did for his friend Gaius in the first century. John wrote a letter to him.
Writing letters is one of our oldest forms of art, according to Catherine Field, a writer for the New York Times. For instance, when you think of letters, Paul of Tarsus comes to mind. We can also include the apostle John.
John wrote a letter to Gaius, expressing hope for good health, faithfulness, and love for the church. He addressed a church problem and emphasized the value of doing good for God’s glory.
Digital communication may diminish the importance of traditional letter-writing, but it does not deter us from encouraging others. Paul wrote letters on parchment, and we can do so in various ways, demonstrating our care in Jesus’ name.
Consider how Gaius felt encouraged upon opening John’s letter. Could we also send a kind message or an encouraging call to someone to show them how much God loves them?
🙏 May the Lord bless you and empower you to be an encourager to others who need to be strengthened, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
