THE VIOLIN GUY

1 JOHN 4:11

Many people knew very little about him, but they just called him “the violin guy”. He was a shabby and dirty looking old man who was often seen wandering about, playing his violin to those passing by. Listeners would sometimes give him money. He would smile and nod his head in thanks as he continued to play. I cannot remember anyone, including myself, really spending time to discuss with him.

After his death, an article about his life was printed in a local news paper. Many people were amazed that he spoke several languages, was a university graduate and had even run for political office years ago. Until they read about him, they just judged him by his scruffy clothes.

God created mankind in His own image (Genesis 1:27). This means we are all valuable, no matter how we look, what we have done or what others think of us.

We are loved by God. This was why He sent Jesus to die for our sins (John 3:16). All around us we still have people who still do not know that love for themselves. May we help them see how valuable to God they are by living out His love.

Lord, help us to show Your love and share Your love, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
