JOHN 1:1–14
Space Shuttle astronaut Charles Frank Bolden Jr. experienced a significant change in his perspective on Earth when he first went into space and viewed it from four hundred miles. He saw the Earth as peaceful and beautiful from space. He later travelled to the Middle East, where he was shaken into reality by the ongoing conflict. Bolden, having viewed the Earth with a sense of how it should be felt, felt it was a challenge to make it better.
Jesus, born in Bethlehem, ascended into the moral and spiritual darkness of the world, bringing life and light to all. Despite the world’s lack of recognition, those who received Jesus and believed in His name were granted the right to become children of God.
Life’s imperfections, such as family breakdowns, hunger, and global war, cause deep sadness. However, God promises that through faith in Christ, anyone can begin a new direction.
The seasons of Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany serve as a reminder that everyone who accepts and follows Jesus, the Saviour, is given the gift of life and light.
God is at work to make the world what He intends it to be.
