THE SURVIVAL FLOAT

PSALM 55:4–23

The swimming pool was glistening with sunlight. I heard an instructor talking to one of the students who had been in the water for a period of time. “It appears that you are becoming tired,” he said. “Try the survival float in deep water when you are feeling tired.”

David experienced distress when his enemies threatened him, causing him to spend mental, physical, or emotional energy in ways that were unsustainable. He sought to escape the emotional weight of their anger and maintain his well-being.

He found solace in the Lord. He acknowledged that God supports us by allowing us to release our problems, as He is in control of every aspect of our lives.

We can find rest in God by asking Him to handle our problems, allowing us to pause, relax, and enjoy the knowledge that He is sustaining us, rather than attempting to do everything ourselves.
