PSALM 94:21-22
A man once strolled along a vast lake’s shores. He discovered a small alcove between the rocks as he neared a pile of boulders, and noticed a tiny plant had taken root there. The plant appeared to be getting enough sunlight and water, as well as some protection. Its delicate leaves would not even be ruffled by a downpour or a strong breeze.
The safe haven of this plant reminds me of the familiar hymn lyric “Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee.” Those are the words that many of us desire to hear when we come across people who have bad intentions, people who are full of pride, harshness, and a disregard for God. We can recall that the Lord is our protection and the rock of our refuge when we are the target peoples’ wickedness.
God, as our rock, is dependable and powerful. He can provide safety until challenges pass as our refuge. We can take shelter under His wings. We do not have to be afraid of what others will do because we have God as our protector. When we face adversity, we can be rest assured that God will be there to help us.
🙏🏼Thank You, God, for Your unchanging and stable nature. Help us to seek refuge in You when we are confronted with difficult situations. Remind us that we are not alone in our struggles.
