THE PURSUIT OF UNITY

COLOSSIANS 3:9–17

He did not challenge racism and segregation in his city while growing up in the 1950s. People with different skin tones were kept apart in neighbourhoods, restaurants, schools, and public transportation. When he enrolled in US Army Basic Training in 1968, however, his viewpoint shifted when he discovered how crucial it was to comprehend and welcome all ethnic groups in order to fulfil their goal.

Paul addressed the first-century church at Colossae, emphasising the diversity of its members and Christ’s unity. He urged them to embrace compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, and to put on love that binds them all together in perfect unity, despite the surface and deeper differences that could divide them.

Despite our diversity, we must strive for greater unity in Christ. It is our work in progress.

🙏Lord Jesus, bind us together with cords that cannot be broken.
