THE PSALM OF THE CROSS

PSALM 22

The Psalm of the Cross refers to Psalm 22.

Although it is based on David’s own experience, Psalm 22 has wider ramifications since it points to Jesus’ eventual sacrifice and provides insight into the human experience of sorrow, faith, and hope.

It is arguably the most remarkable psalm. The crucifixion is precisely what it foretells about 950 years before the incident.

How appropriate that Psalm 22 finishes with the phrase “it is finished” (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition) after opening with the words “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” Jesus’ statement, “It is finished,” perfectly summed up the work he did. This completes the gospel of salvation. We can be saved by no other name in the world.

🙏 “It is finished!” May you experience Jesus’ finished work, and may all your problems, sorrows, and challenges come to an end. Amen.
