THE LOVING FATHER

PSALM 103:7-13

I pondered how the parents would keep the little boys quiet for our one-hour flight as I observed the two boys running about the congested boarding area. I saw the father and one of the sons in the seat behind me when we finally boarded. The exhausted father then said, “Why don’t you let me read one of your storybooks to you?” to his son. And throughout the entire trip, this devoted father carefully and softly read to his child, helping him to be calm.

According to David, the Lord has pity on those who fear Him, just as a parent has pity on his children (Psalm 103:13). To express love and sympathy is to “pity” someone. This sweet phrase helps us understand how much our heavenly Father loves His children and serves as a reminder of the blessing it is to be able to call out to Him in love, “Abba, Father” (Romans 8:15).

As we are wandering through life, God longs for us to listen once more to the tale of His love for us. We have an ever-present heavenly Father who is prepared to encourage us through His Word.

🙏🏻Today we choose joy in knowing Your love is constant and unchanging, forever fixed.
