1 THESSALONIANS 2:9–20
In October 1871, evangelist Dwight L. Moody preached in Chicago but postponed his altar call, telling the congregation to decide the following week. That night, the Great Chicago Fire destroyed the city and killed many of his listeners. Moody called this his greatest mistake, vowing never again to delay inviting people to Christ because tomorrow is never guaranteed.
In 1 Thessalonians 2:9–20, Paul rejoiced that the Thessalonians received the gospel as God’s Word. Though Satan hindered his return, he looked beyond present obstacles, seeing these believers as his joy and crown when Christ returns.
Our greatest achievement is not wealth or status but lives influenced for Christ. Live faithfully, encourage others and labour for rewards that will never fade.
