1 SAMUEL 17:32-37
The enormous foe advances toward the Valley of Elah. He is nine feet tall, and the sunshine catches the bronze plates that make up his armour. His spear’s shaft is cord-wrapped, allowing him to spin it in the air and throw it farther and more precisely. Goliath appears unbeatable.
But David is smarter. In contrast to the living God, Goliath is little despite having a giant’s appearance. David has a precise view of God, and as a result, a correct understanding of the situation. He considers Goliath to be a person who is against the forces of the living God (1 Samuel 17:26). He confidently approaches Goliath dressed as a shepherd and equipped simply with his staff, five stones, and a sling. His faith is not in his possessions, but in God.
What “Goliath” are you now up against? It could be a problematic employment environment, money problems, or a strained relationship. All things fade in front of God. There is nothing too large for Him. If God wants to deliver you, He can, and He might do so in unexpected ways.
Do not tell God how big your giants are. Tell your giants how big your God is.
