MARK 9:33–37; MATTHEW 23:12
I was assigned a middle seat on a passenger flight but only saw a place behind to put my luggage. This meant I had to wait for everyone to leave before retrieving my bag. I laughed as I realised that waiting would be beneficial. I decided to enjoy the extra time by helping other passengers retrieve their own luggage after the plane landed. When I finally retrieved my bag, someone mistakenly thought I worked for the airline.
The experience led to reflection on Jesus’ teachings, emphasising the importance of being the last and servant of all and the honour given to those who willingly prioritise others’ needs in His “upside down” kingdom.
According to Matthew 20:28, Jesus did not come into this fast-paced, self-centred world to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. Serving others is how we best serve God. The lower we bend, the closer we are to Him.
🙏Loving Lord, help me to serve You by serving others.
