1 JOHN 4:9-10
Imagine this – in a stable, a young couple is having a baby without a doctor or mid-wife. No bed for the mother to lay on while she gives birth. The stench of animals representing a most unsanitary condition. Yet, this is the event we celebrate with much funfair today. What this young couple did have, though, was the blessing and protection of God Almighty as His son was brought into the world.
It was not a pleasant or entertaining image – but this was Christmas.
No matter how unpleasant it may seem for you today, you can still celebrate the birth of your hope, your Saviour, your Lord, Jesus Christ. He is Emmanuel – God with us.
