THE HEART OF JESUS

EXODUS 32:21–32

An Australian journalist, who spent 400 days in Egyptian jail, expressed mixed emotions upon his release, expressing relief but also concern for his fellow prisoners and the uncertainty of their future.

Moses, anxious about losing the people of Israel, interceded for them and pleaded for forgiveness as God threatened to destroy them because of their disobedience (Exodus 32:32).

Later, the apostle Paul showed a similar concern for his friends, family, and nation. Paul, lamenting their lack of faith in Jesus, declared in Romans 9:3 that he would be prepared to sever his own relationship with Christ in order to save his brothers and sisters.

In retrospect, we can see that Christ’s heart was communicated by both Paul and Moses. However, Jesus fulfilled their desire and offered the love they could only feel.

🙏 Jesus, we are grateful that You have shown us how much You are willing to die for those who do not yet know how much You love them.
