PROVERBS 4:23
Our hearts beat about 70 to 75 times per minute. The heart produces enough energy throughout the day to complete tedious work. A strong heart is capable of incredible feats. On the other hand, if our heart stop working, our entire body shuts down.
We may say the same about our “spiritual heart.” The word “heart” in the Bible refers to the core of our feelings, thoughts, and rational analysis. The “command center” of our lives is there.
Therefore, it makes a lot of sense to guard our hearts with all diligence (Proverbs 4:23). But following that advice can be challenging. There will always be demands on our time and energy from life that must be heeded right away. Spending time hearing God’s Word and acting upon it may not shout so loudly. Neglect may not have immediate repercussions, but over time it may cause a spiritual heart attack.
God’s gift of His Word is something for which we can be grateful. To use it to constantly align our hearts with His, we need His assistance. We must not ignore it.
🙏🏼 Lord, help us to always consult Your Word to remain spiritually fit.
