PROVERBS 4:5–19
In an African village, word spread about a hidden pot of gold buried deep within the forest. Many young men risked their lives searching for it. Some lost their way; others never returned.
Proverbs 4 reminds us that not every treasure is worth such a perilous quest. The true treasure is wisdom—far more valuable than gold. Wisdom guides us, protects us from harm, and brings lasting honour (Proverbs 4:7–12).
James later describes God’s wisdom as pure, peace-loving, gentle, and full of good fruit (James 3:17). To seek wisdom is to seek God Himself, and the blessings He gives far surpass anything this world can offer.
