THE FAULTY LIGHTS

MATTHEW 5:14-16

I was exasperated because despite my repeated calls, the street lights in front of my house were still off. It was getting dark, and it was important that every light worked to brighten the darkness.

The idea of light is used widely in the Bible. Jesus is referred to as the Light of the world (John 9: 5). We are told to put on the armour of light by putting on the Lord (Romans 13:12-14). We are told in Matthew 5:16 to let our light shine before people that they may see our good works and glorify our Heavenly Father.

A light that does not shine has become useless. Jesus said that no one should hide a light under a basket, but put it on a lampstand to illuminate everything around him/her (Matthew 5:15). Our light should direct people to the One Who is the Light.

God has placed each of us in a certain environment that allows us to shine better with His light. Do not be like an extinguished candle. Shine on!

Whether you are a candle in a corner or a lighthouse on a hill, let your light shine.

🙏Lord, help us to always put You first in everything we say and do, so that Your light shines through us and shows the world its need of You.
