THE FATHER OF LIES

JOHN 8:37-44

The phrase “father of lies” is a phrase used in the New Testament to describe the devil.

Satan’s rule over humanity began when he turned the thoughts of Adam and Eve against God. To do this, he had to lie to them about God, and they had to fall into the trap. The devil lied to them about the goodness of God, His Word, and His purposes (Gen. 3:1-6).

Satan still lives by his old tricks. It is no wonder, then, that when problems interrupt our lives, the father of lies whispers in our ears and we suddenly start questioning the goodness of God and wondering whether His word is true.

Like Adam and Eve, we have a tendency to accept as true Satan’s lies, and when we do, our loyalty to God is compromised. Then our enemy moves on to his next mission, leaving us alone to face our regrets and uncover his lies that have led us away from our truest and dearest Friend.

Who and what have we been paying attention to lately? We must not listen to Satan’s lies. We need to resist him with the Word and he will flee.

🙏Lord help me believe your Word and shun the devil’s lies, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
