LUKE 15:11-24
If sin were not deceitful, it would not seem delightful.
Before the prodigal son started desiring to eat with pigs, he had a comfortable bed, a rich heritage, a loving father, a secure future, and probably good food, but that was not enough. He wanted to “have fun”. He wanted to live his own life and do whatever he desired, which led to a pig’s meal.
Whenever people ignore the advice of devoted parents or spiritual leaders and the instructions of the Word of God, similar results occur. It always amazes me when someone who claims to know Jesus chooses a life that rejects God’s clear teachings. Whether the choices include sexual sin, drug addiction, lack of ambition or the like, any action that excludes God is likely to end badly.
If we ignore clear biblical morals and neglect our relationship with God, we can run into difficulties. Luke tells us that the young man changed things after he regained consciousness (Luke 15:17). Keep your senses. Live for God under the direction of His Word unless you want to dine with the pigs.
