1 PETER 3:13-18
Fear is a constant for Hadassah, a young Jewish girl in Francine Rivers’ book A Voice in the Wind. Becoming a slave in a Roman household, she faces persecution for her faith in Christ. Christians are despised, often executed or thrown to lions. Will Hadassah have the courage to stand for her beliefs when tested?
She is confronted by her mistress and Roman officials. She must choose to renounce her belief or face death in the arena. Despite her initial fear, she becomes bold and proclaims her faith in Jesus Christ without hesitation.
The Bible teaches us that we may face difficulties for following God’s ways, such as spreading the gospel or living according to His values. Despite challenges, we are encouraged to not fear and to honour Christ. Hadassah faced a tough decision but ultimately chose to be faithful to Jesus, finding courage in her choice.
Choosing to follow Christ means having the strength to face challenges boldly.
