ACTS 8:26-37
His three-year-old grandson inquired: “Why did Jesus die on the cross?” They started talking briefly. He talked to him about sin and how Jesus was willing to die as our atonement. He then ran off to play.
A short while later, he overheard him describing the reason for Jesus’ death to his five-year-old cousin. “Jesus is not dead,” she argued with him. “Sure,” he answered. “He is dead.” “Grampa told me He died on the cross.”
He realised he had left the story unfinished. They had another conversation. He repeated the story, and he conveyed to him that Jesus had risen from the grave. His grandson realised that Jesus is still alive today despite having died for us.
What a powerful reminder that people must hear the whole gospel! When an Ethiopian asked Philip about a part of the Scripture that he did not understand, Philip opened his mouth and began by preaching Jesus to him from that Scripture (Acts 8:35).
Share with people the good news about Jesus: that He came into the world to save sinners like you and me; that He died for our sins; that He rose from the dead to demonstrate His power over death. Our Saviour, Jesus, is alive and willing to live through us right now.
Let us just be careful to convey the whole story when someone asks about Jesus!
🙏🏻Lord Jesus, Your story is amazing. Help us to tell all of it so others can put their faith in You and enjoy the salvation You offer to all who trust and believe.
