EPHESIANS 1:3–14
Because it is located on the location of the biggest slave market in East Africa, their visit to the Christ Church Cathedral in Stone Town, Zanzibar, was extremely emotional. The designers of the cathedral wanted to demonstrate how the gospel frees people from slavery. Once a scene of evil and misery, this location now represents God’s grace.
The cathedral builders aimed to show that Jesus’s death gives freedom from sin, as Paul says in Ephesians 1:7. Redemption references the Old Testament idea of buying back someone from slavery to sin.
Paul expresses joy in his letter about freedom in Christ and God’s grace through Jesus’s death.
🙏Lord God, through the death of Your Son, You have given us life forever. Help Your children to share this gift of grace with someone today.
