LUKE 24:13-35
Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, an Italian artist, was known for his fiery temperament and unconventional technique. He used ordinary working people as models for his saints, creating a sense of immersion in his paintings. The Supper at Emmaus depicts Jesus and two of His followers recognising Him as the risen Lord, with one disciple pushing himself to a standing position and the other’s arms open in astonishment.
In Luke’s gospel, the two men return to Jerusalem and find eleven disciples and others gathered. They recount the events on their way and how Jesus was recognised by them when he broke the bread (vv. 33–35).
Oswald Chambers emphasised that Jesus often appears unexpectedly and in illogical connections. To remain true to God, workers must be prepared for unexpected visits from the Lord.
Regardless of the path we are taking today, may we be prepared for Jesus to reveal Himself to us in fresh and surprising ways.
🙏 Lord Jesus, help us to see You, the resurrected Christ, working with us and in everyday situations.
