STAYING ON TRACK WITH GOD

DEUTERONOMY 5:1-11

A train carrying 218 people derailed in northwestern Spain, killing 79 and injuring 66 more. The driver, a thirty-year veteran of Spain’s national rail company, ignored the speed limit to protect everyone on board, leading to the tragic accident. Video footage showed the train was going too fast before hitting a deadly curve.

In Deuteronomy 5, Moses reaffirmed God’s original covenant boundaries for His people. He restated the Ten Commandments, drawing lessons from previous generations’ disobedience, to encourage reverence, humility, and mindfulness of God’s faithfulness. Moses emphasised that God had created a way for His people to avoid harming themselves or others, and ignoring His wisdom would put them in their own peril.

Today, let Scripture serve as our guide, counsellor, and guardrail for our lives. Guided by the Spirit of God, let us remain guided within His wise protection and devote our lives wholeheartedly to Him.
