STAYING IN TENTS

GENESIS 12:4–9

It is fun to go camping. Our least favourite part of the trip could be sleeping in a cheap, leaky tent, especially after a wet night.

Abraham, a biblical hero, lived many years in tents after hearing God’s call to leave his country at 75. He trusted in God’s promise and lived away from his home until his death at 175 (Genesis 25:7). This remarkable story highlights the importance of faith and obedience.

We may not have the same call as Abraham to live nomadically, but we may long for a deeper experience of home and being rooted on earth. Like Abraham, we can look with faith for the city to come, whose architect and builder is God (Hebrews 11:10). We can find hope that God is working to renew His creation and prepare a better country, a heavenly one.

🙏Lord God, You are our shelter and our foundation. May we trust You always.
