ZECHARIAH 4:10
I sometimes speak with individuals who serve in small communities in what they perceive to be seemingly small ways. They constantly feel discouraged by loneliness and that their noble accomplishments are insignificant.
Bigger is better, according to some cultural beliefs, and size is the best indicator of success. To resist that trend requires strength, especially if one is working in a small area.
It is not that numbers are not important (after all, the Bible counted converts; see Acts 2:41). The numbers represent actual persons who have needs. We should all work and pray for many people to come into the kingdom, but we should not base our self-worth on how many people we have.
God does not call us to find fulfillment in how much work we perform for Him or in how many people are involved in that activity; rather, He calls us to faithfully carry out our jobs for His sake. Serving our great God in a tiny way with His strength is wonderful in itself; it is not a stepping stone to greatness – it is greatness.
In God’s eyes, anyone who is carrying out His work in His way is important.
🙏Lord, help us remember that there are no small places or small people.
