PHILIPPIANS 1:21–26
Monica, an elderly woman in a hospital, smiled as teenagers visited her. Despite the hot, sticky air, she sang a song: “I am running the race to meet my redeemer!” Those surrounding her started crying as she swung her arms back and forth like she was running. Monica’s singing demonstrated her devotion to Jesus and her desire to have legs to run on in heaven.
Monica’s joy and anticipation of heaven add vibrancy to Paul’s words in Philippians 1 regarding life-and-death issues. He expresses his desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far, while living in the body will lead to fruitful labour.
Despite facing challenging times, Monica demonstrated joy, showing that we can continue to praise the Lord for the abundant life He provides and the ultimate joy that awaits us despite our current circumstances.
🙏 Lord, help us to navigate the challenging times of our world with happiness as we look for a brighter future.
