SEEPING THROUGH MY FINGERS

ISAIAH 40:9–17

I accidentally knocked over my glass, causing my beverage to cascade over the edge and onto the floor. I cupped my palms and attempted to capture the cascade. My fingers went through most of my beverage, so my efforts were mostly in vain. Ultimately, my feet stood in puddles, and my upturned palms held barely a spoonful apiece.

I frequently struggle with problem-solving, detail-management, and controlling circumstances, unable to manage them effectively. I feel overwhelmed when something slips through my fingers, and no effort to tighten my fingers helps me handle the situation.

Isaiah teaches that God can measure the globe’s waters in His hands, as His hands are large enough to hold all the oceans, rivers, and rain. When overwhelmed, we can entrust our cares and concerns to His capable hands.

🙏Help us, Lord, to stop trying to hold everything in our hands, but instead to trust our needs and concerns into Your perfect care.
