PROVERBS 3:1-18
Academic institutions hold ceremonies each year to celebrate students who have earned their certificates or completed their studies. Graduates will face challenges in the world they enter after leaving the classroom. The mere possession of academic knowledge will not be enough. Using what they have learned wisely will be the key to success in life.
Wisdom is praised as a treasure that is worth seeking throughout Scripture. It is superior to wealth (Proverbs 3:13–18). Wisdom comes from God, who is the only perfectly wise being (Romans 16:27). And it is found in Jesus’ actions and attitude, who is the source of all wisdom (Colossians 2:3). The Bible can be read and applied to gain wisdom. This is demonstrated by how Jesus used his knowledge to resist temptation (Luke 4:1–13). To put it another way, the truly wise person makes an effort to view life from God’s perspective and decides to act in accordance with His wisdom.
What is the benefit of living this way? Blessed are those who discover wisdom (Proverbs 3:13). Therefore, seek wisdom, since it offers greater rewards than silver or gold!
