MARK 6:30–46
Tommy Manning, a former member of the U.S. Mountain Running Team, emphasised the importance of rest days for runners, stating that the body needs time to rest and rebuild after exercise, ensuring physiological adaptations occur.
In our faith and service, regular rest is crucial to prevent burnout and discouragement. Jesus sought spiritual balance throughout His life, even amidst great demands. When His disciples returned from teaching and healing, Jesus encouraged them to rest (Mark 6:31).
Our work will become less and less effective if it becomes the only thing that defines our existence. Jesus urges us to routinely spend time with Him in a quiet area for prayer and refreshment.
🙏Lord Jesus, give us wisdom and determination to make rest a priority as we follow you.
