REWARDING GOOD CONDUCT

2 CORINTHIANS 5:9-10

When the children’s ministry at a certain church notices good conduct, they give prizes to the youngsters. Instead of focusing on inappropriate behaviour, they were attempting to reinforce good behaviour.

Once a child was offered a prize, he said, “No, thank you.” I do not require anything; I simply want to behave well and I do not need a reward for that.” Doing what was right was rewarding enough for him. He had strong principles embedded in him, and he wanted to live them out, regardless of the reward.

We will be rewarded one day as followers of Christ. Second Corinthians 5:10 states that everybody will receive a reward for things done in the body, whether good or bad, according to what they have done. However, getting a reward should not be our motive for living a good life. The desire of our hearts should be to live for God and to please Him.

When we love God, we seek to please Him who loved us first (1 John 4:19) and to serve Him with pure motives. To be with Him will be the greatest reward!

Our greatest motivation for obeying God should be to please Him.

🙏🏼 Lord may our desire be to please You.
