PHILIPPIANS 3:7–14
I was astounded to discover a beautiful flower sprouting up through a crack between the concrete slabs covering the ground as I walked past one of the office building’s outer walls. In spite of its poor conditions, the plant managed to take root in the harsh crack and was now thriving. Later, I saw that the plant was getting water droplets all day from the air conditioner just above it. The water above provided the plant with the support it required despite its adverse circumstances.
Growing in the Christian life can be challenging, but perseverance with Christ can overcome barriers. Despite unfavourable circumstances and discouragement, pressing on in our relationship with the Lord can lead to flourishing. The apostle Paul, despite facing severe hardships and challenges, continued to push towards the goal of winning the prize (Philippians 3:12, 14).
With the assistance of the One who gives us strength, we too may accomplish all that we set out to do (Philippians 4:13).
