1 PETER 2:1-10
We have accumulated a lot of stuff throughout the course of our lives. We have bags or boxes full of items that were once important but have now lost their attraction. And, as unrepentant collectors, we have discovered that the thrill comes from finding and obtaining new things to add to our collections. Then our focus shifts to the search for the next item.
While we pile up numerous things that are important to us, only a small percentage of them are truly precious. In fact, I have come to realise that the most valuable things in life are often not material things at all.
As a matter of fact, when Peter refers to Jesus as a chief cornerstone, elect, and precious (1 Peter 2:6), we should understand that He is indeed precious – our cherished possession above all else. Where would we be now if His steadfast presence, intelligent and faultless counsel, merciful patience, comfort, and transformative reproof were not always present? What would we do if He did not exist? I simply can not imagine!
Jesus ranks first among all things valuable.
🙏🏼 Lord, teach us to enjoy the pleasure of resting in Your loving presence and provision in our lives.
