1 SAMUEL 23:1-5
When Juliet and her husband had to supervise their son’s guitar practice sessions, they started by asking God for assistance. She and her husband could not play the instrument, so they began by praying.
As soon as we acknowledge our need for God, prayer becomes a top priority. David thought about fighting the Philistines in the city of Keilah, and he needed God’s help. He sought the Lord’s guidance prior to fighting (1 Samuel 23:2). God approved of it. The opposing forces did, however, terrify David’s men, as they admitted.
Does prayer serve as a compass for our lives, or do we just turn to it in times of crisis? Making plans and then praying for God to bless them is a bad habit that we sometimes get into. In times of need, God does want us to turn to Him. He also wants us to understand how dependent we are on Him at all times.
🙏🏻Dear God, help me not to act only by my own wisdom, but to seek Your will in every situation.
