JUDGES 2:11-22
My teacher required that I hold my pencil a certain way when I was learning to write. I held it in the manner she requested as she observed me. But when she turned away, I stubbornly flipped the pencil back to the position that felt more comfortable to me.
I believed I had won that battle of wills in secret, and I still hold my pencil and pen in a peculiar way. But years later, I see that my clever teacher was aware that my stubborn practice would develop into a poor writing habit that would cause my hand to tire more quickly.
If a spirit of disobedience prevents us from following God, it is time for a heart shift. We must not make the same mistakes that the children of Israel did (Judges 2:20โ22).
๐๐ปLord Jesus, help us not cling to our stubborn tendency to want things our way.
